In the middle of June of this year, my husband and I, along with some friends, took a trip to Ongole, India. It was an amazing and eye-opening experience.
Being in full-time ministry, we have had the opportunity to travel throughout the US, Canada, and my husband has made several trips to Mexico and the Philippines. He says he has never had anything make as much of an impact on him as this trip to India.
The people are beautiful, precious people, but the conditions that we saw many of them living in was absolutely heartbreaking. We visited several "Untouchable" villages and assisted in distributing food to them. The basic necessities of life; food, water, clothing, and shelter, that we take for granted, are scarcely a dream for these people. Children are eating out of the garbage, and drinking dirty water. We saw many dear orphaned children with no one to care for them. Our hearts broke to witness such conditions! There is so much sickness and disease, and they have no funds to purchase hygiene products, or to get needed medical care. These people are basically forgotten and ignored by society.
How blessed we were to team up with Reach and Rescue Missions! They work tirelessly and sacrificially to try and meet the needs for food, clean water, hygiene products, and medical care to the Untouchable villages. After seeing what they face every day, we only wish we could do more to help them as they show love and care to the "forgotten ones!"
